Privacy policy
Who we are
Continental House (“the Conti”, “we”, “us”) is a retreat venue at 9 Lone Pine Avenue, Hepburn Springs VIC 3461. This policy explains how we handle the personal information you give us through this website and when you book with us. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
- When you send an enquiry: your name, email address and anything you choose to tell us about your retreat, such as dates, group size and the kind of stay.
- When you join our mailing list: your email address, your name if you give it, and whether you’re a retreat guest or organiser.
- When you book or stay with us: the contact and booking details we need to arrange your stay, along with anything you tell us so we can look after your group, such as dietary needs or treatment preferences.
- We don’t collect payment card details through this website.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and to arrange and manage your booking.
- To send our newsletter, if you’ve signed up. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can write to us and we’ll take you off the list.
- To run and improve our business, and to meet our legal obligations.
- We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with people who help us run the Conti, and only as much as they need: for example, the services that host this website and receive its forms (Netlify and Web3Forms), send our newsletter, and handle our email and bookings calendar, and the therapists, teachers or caterers you’ve asked us to arrange. Some of these services store information outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose reputable providers and expect them to protect your information. We’ll also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies and website data
This website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and Google may receive your IP address when that happens. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs to keep the site secure. The availability calendar shows only which nights are booked, never who has booked them.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep it only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, and then delete or de-identify it.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Just email us and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a concern about how we’ve handled your information, please email info@continentalhouse.com.au. We’ll do our best to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
