The bedrooms

Every room ensuite
Mineral baths in six

Fourteen bedrooms in the main house, plus two stand-alone spaces, the Red Tent studio and Roller’s Cottage, every one with its own ensuite. Beds are made with 100% combed cotton from The Honest Label Co., and doonas and pillows of Australian wool from Ecoweave, made in Brunswick. Rooms 1, 6, 7, 12, Rumi and the Saffer Suite have deep baths with a third tap, straight from our mineral bore.

The main lounge

The original wood-panelled lounge, kept through the renovation: wallpaper, chandeliers, a deep corner sofa and a fire.

The garden

About an acre · no spray

Through the secret-garden hedge, the grounds roll down the hill in about an acre of old flowers, fruit trees and veggie patches.

Winding paths lead through lavender and native trees to a second great hedge and the lawn behind it. The old tennis court Dave Saffer levelled with dynamite is a little bumpy these days, but just right for croquet, badminton or cricket. The herb garden is there for picking, and the garden is never sprayed.

You won’t be alone out there. Expect plenty of birdlife, our resident blue-tongue lizard, a shy echidna, and the odd cheeky kangaroo helping itself to the compost.
